Sociological Theory Essay -- Sociology Papers

Sociological Theory To be able to evaluate Functionalism, Marxism and Interactionism we must first look at the strengths and weaknesses in each. there are many variations and interpretations of each of these theories, therefore for the sake of simplicity solo the key ideals leave alone be discussed. Functionalism looks at inn as an organized social organisation of inter-related institutions and the various ways these institutions interact together within a social structure. Examples of these institutions are the family, work, education and religion. The Functionalist perspective is best understood using an organismic affinity Societies are comparable to living organisms (for example, a human being). Each part of the human body is linked, in some way, to all other parts. Individual organs combine to create something that is greater than the sum total of their individual parts. In social terms, these organs equate to the aforementioned institutions. Each of these institutions has its separate role, and in order for society to to function subjectively, these institutions must work in harmony with each other. It is in any case said that all parts of society have a purpose and also certain needs. The purpose of the work institution, for example, is to create wealth and in order to achieve this it needs people with a certain level of education. This example demonstrates the harmony required amidst two institutions in order to achieve a goal. Without education, the work institution would collapse due to lack of skilled workers, therefore having a diverse effect on society and all the institutions within that society. This view recognise... ...n those classes. Economic rule, however does still play a prominent part in certain societies today, and will continue to do so for years to come. Interactionism looks at the individual and there influence and understanding of other social groups. This approac h has allowed us to understand smaller social groups, which in turn allows us to gradually understand social groups in certain areas. However, none of the above theories will ever give us a true insight into how all societies work together. By taking parts of each and combining them to make a new theory is the only way that we may truly understand the social structure of the world around us. Swift :: essays research papers

spry wrote plain perfection of prose. Comment. Many critics handle William Deans Howells T.S. Eliot etc. have called Jonathan Swift the greatest writer of prose akin T.S. Eliot says that Swift, the greatest writer of English prose, and the greatest man who has ever written great English prose. But there are reasons for this greatness. One of the main reasons is that Swift wrote in a very plain and downright style. He didnt use any embellishments. At times, when Swift was writing serious stuff this same plain style appears dry but when writing humorously, this same plainness gives his wit a singular edge. Swift didnt use ornate or rhetorical language he said what he had to in simply without any affectation as Hugh Blair saysHis style is of the plain and transparent kind thaw of all affectation, and all superfluity perspicuous, manly and pure. And at times, his style appears so simple that its seems like anybody with a little sense of writing could write like him but in this same s imple ness of manner lies Swifts greatness like Scott saysSwifts style seems so simple that ace would think any child might write as he does, and yet if we try we find to our own despair that it is impossible. This same simpleness of style in Gullivers Travels corresponds to the naivet and simplicity of Gulliver. Another important feature of Swifts prose is that he uses the common touch. In other words, everybody can commiserate his language that is why even children can read his books with so much enjoyment. Also, Swift addresses people as rational and political beings, making them his equals. For example, in Drapiers Letters Swift uses the same language of the class which he is addressing i.e. rough and shrewd. Swift doesnt write long sentences or speeches or difficult words. And he familiarizes with the people by using their own simple and at times coarse language. Invention or imagination is an aspect witch makes Swift one of the greatest English writers. J.J. Hogan saysOne of Swifts greatest outlets, of course, was invention.Although Swift has used many non-sensical and imaginary words, but these imaginary words have an underlying meaning. For example, Lindalino indicates Dublin, Nardac when broken down in German Narr (meaning fool) and doch (meaning still) turns into still a fool. Hekinah Degul can be translated, on grounds of similarity of sound, turns into What in the hellion.

Identifying a Decision Point for Cloud Application Build/MigrationThe decision point is a obligatory component to come between Business and application assessment and vendor selection process. It includes various assessment including Cloud-Decision framework, Service Type and Deployment assessment, and Checklist for service type. To create these tools, our squad analyzed three main components of service delivery. These components consist of cloud concepts, deployment options and service type offerings.Cloud Concepts (IaaS and PaaS)Cloud computing comprises of three classes of services Infrastructure as a Service, platform as a service, and software as a service. While SaaS offers more of ready, tailored solution that suits the business needs, IaaS and PaaS delivers more of a create block type of solutions. On a high level, while IaaS focuses on providing storage and hardware capabilities, PaaS focuses on middleware and the development environment in the cloud. Figure 1 shows more detailed comparison between IaaS and PaaS. The next step that we took was to assess IaaS, PaaS from build-or-buy perspective. According to Gartner Research, three cloud concepts, Cloud Hosted, Cloud Optimized and Cloud Native, are relevant to both IaaS and PaaS. These three cloud concepts determine if the application is more suitable for migration or for Greenfield. Following are the characteristics of each cloud solutionsCloud-hosted solutions require the lowest parkway to implement. It transplant, or migrate, the existing enterprise applications on IaaS to gain the benefits of simple shared-hardware multitenancy (Gartner Research). This is feasible for the server that runs rarely used application as redeployi... ...fore migration (Gartner). For the applications which require heavy refactoring, IaaS is oftentimes better option than PaaS.The Cloud-optimized solution on PaaS will allow CMI to make continuous refactoring and optimization on its PaaS environment. However, the appl ication may not be an sample candidate for this option if the answer to any of the following questions below is yes (Gartner)Does the application make direct use of OS or hypervisor resources?Does the application depend on components (such as middleware, services and programming libraries) for which no compatible implementation exists as a cloud services? Is the application primarily focused on pile operations without a Web user interface, or is it a native client application?Does the application make heavy use of custom dialogue protocols?List of the AssessmentsCloud-Decision Framework
